Natural Resources, Environmental and Climate Change Management
Climate change has and will continue to impact adversely on rural communities in SSA countries like Ghana. The heightened competition for scarce resources, partly caused by over exploitation and climate change impacts, is provoking several socio-economic and environmental conflicts in local communities. Increasing ICED’s capacity in integrated natural resources management will enable it to promote equality and equity in the delivery of sustainable development outputs and outcomes in rural communities. To build on its several years of empowering rural communities in SSA to adapt to climate change impacts, ICED envision to advance its activities in this field through innovative approaches. For instance, one innovative area of activity ICED promotes is weather-based insurance systems for mitigating climate change risks, especially in rural communities.
